Black Panther to Be First Film Shown in Saudi Arabia Movie Theaters in Decades

After 35 years of a film ban, the conservative country is bringing movie theaters back with the showing of Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther".

April 18 marks the day that both men and women will be allowed to attend the screening in AMC’s theater. The luxurious new theater is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and features 500 leather seats.

The choice in film is both surprising yet completely understandable. The coveted movie was raked the 10th-highest-grossing film of all time and has had some of the best reviews for any movie, superhero or not.

The unpredicted aspect comes from the fact that the movie celebrates diversity, powerful women, and equality. These ideals strongly differ from that of the regime that is known for little consideration toward human rights, especially those of women.

Nevertheless, this could show a great change for the country and could ultimately lead to their citizens having more rights. Only time will tell but the future looks bright with plans to build 100 theaters across 25 cities in Saudi Arabia by 2030.

SHAZAM! Trailer Released; With A Twist

Marvel and DC movies are some of the most anticipated films each year, making billions of dollars worldwide. It was no surprise then that when DC announced the movie SHAZAM! was in production, fans began speculating plot lines and casting. However, when director David F. Sandberg posted a teaser trailer for the move this morning he gave them a bigger surprise than they anticipated; an April Fools surprise!

Posting the alleged teaser trailer on his official Twitter account this morning, fans were excited to see what the future movie had in store. But when clips of the old SHAZAM! TV show as well as a goofy title appeared in the trailer, fans knew that it had to be a joke. After realizing it was April Fools Day the purpose of the post all became evident.

 

We will have to wait to see what’s really in store for this movie. Either way the anticipation is higher than ever and when the real trailer drops its sure to go viral!
